Thursday night was the launch of ‘Artsenta, the first 30 years’, by Kath Beattie. Artsenta is a space created for users of the mental health system, so that they might be given the means and opportunity to express themselves through art and realise their creative potential.
It is great to see the people who drove, and continue to drive, Artsenta acknowledged, especially for those of us who knew Heather Martin.
As an added bonus there is also a stunning picture of ‘The Man in the Golden Pants’, Rob West.
Written in Kath’s lively conversational tone, this is an important part of Dunedin’s history and would make a great Christmas present for any Dunedinite, in fact for anyone who believes in ‘Art for Art’s sake.’
